I am gonna miss the beginning of the game, maybe more. Kid has his first game of the fall season. Should be interesting. If what the kid says is true, all eight pitchers will throw one inning each. I feel sorry for the kids from Liberty, if the kid is right, each pitcher was clocked at 90 or above, at least once, last week. Nick, a transfer lefty hit 97 four times. Now, hitting could be another story. It looks like they will only have two kids who know which end of the bat to use.

FWIW, Brewers winning 2-1 early in Colorado.

Mike Cameron led off the top of the fourth inning with a home run, and Jeff Suppan drove in a run with a ground out, to cut the Rockies lead to 5-4.

Geez, I just noticed Ethier has been dumped to the 7-hole. Below Loretta, even? If that's not a message sent from Torre, I don't know what is.

Kemp squares up a single past the SS. 2 on, 2 out. Loney up.

Oh, ouch. McGahee killed a ball to the wall in left, but the LFer caught up to it and caught it, and the Braun (runner at first) was all the way around 2nd base, got doubled off. Geez.

I'm so used to the whole "Torre Loves Loretta" thing that I've just bypassed it. What bothers me is, did Joe channel Grady or the 2006 ALDS? Ethier's back hitting 7th again? I get that Ethier has been struggling, but you don't put your best power hitter in the 7 spot, and even if his struggles are the reason, that doesn't seem to stop Joe from putting an even more struggling Loretta ABOVE him. There's absolutely no consistency.

Sounds like some serious potential! What school is this? My kid is "playing" for the NorCal Freshman team (Not doing any real playing right now, as he is nursing a broken ankle for a few more weeks.)

Team(s) are serious good! Arizona Fall Classic & Las Vegas are forthcoming... But your kid's team scares me...!

It is pretty much a local high school league run under the auspices of Babe Ruth to keep the kids in shape. The age range is 15-19 with the players having to attend or have attended the "school" they play for. It is a six team league made up of the local schools.

Game was quick, under two hours for eight innings. Our boys won 2-0. We can pitch, but except for the boy (he had two singles) and our leadoff hitter (he had the other two hits and scored both runs) we had a hard time making decent contact. Kid pitched the sixth, throw sixteen pitches, struck out three. Our pitchers only gave up one hit and two base-runners (the other on an error), but we had 20 strikeouts. Gun wasn't as kind here. Only two kids broke 90. Nick hit 95 six times and Chris (a 6-9 righty) hit 92 six times. Boy was stuck on 88-89, but had a nasty change working.
