Jon's article about McCourt was a very good one, and I thought it was funny for some strange reason. But, I can't quite say why, but the first thing that I thought of when he wrote: "'I talk to fans too," McCourt said. ... "They're very excited about the team. They're very supportive of what we're doing.'", was Ceausescu.

    Very ............. apt.

There was a song lyric, way, way, way back in the past: "a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest".

That would be "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel.

I am going to have a sampler made up of that and hang it in the dining room at home. That is a beautiful sentiment.

Now the crap is hitting the fan, article in today's LA Times quoting Jamie airing out Frank's dirty laundry while she asks to double her monthly alimony. 2 of the kids are getting about $300k each off the Dodgers payroll despite one being a fulltime Goldman Sachs employee and the other a fulltime student at Stanford.

Lotta good stuff in that article. I would think that Jamie is implying that Frank is filtering EXTRA money out of the dodgers through his children. I doubt that money ends up in those kids pockets. At least that's my take. Also, claiming to not file taxes? She is just going for the throat.

And the disparity between what fox pays out ($50M/year) and what a cable network would generate for the team ($150M) is absurd. Wow. What could we do with another $100M? That would solve all the issues. Why would you even CONSIDER renewing with Fox?

Also, Frank wants to partner with a Beijing Soccer team? Bring the NFL to LA? Own an EPL team?

For everyone here who can hardly wait until the McCourts are gone, here's an article about a guy with some baseball background who is seeking "acquisitions." ...

Anybody want him to buy the Dodgers?

I didn't think it was possible for me to dislike and be revolted by the McCourts any more than I already was but these lines from today's LA Times have made me hate them even more:

"Frank and Jamie McCourt's divorce could become one of the costliest splits in California history, with attorneys and accountants commanding as much as $19 million in fees — more than the Dodgers will spend on their starting infield this season."

I wonder what the team could have looked like with an addtional $19 million in payroll.

I hope the lawyers suck all of the wealth out of these two low lifes.

I have no doubt that it IS the current legal expenses that are causing Franko to keep team expenses down. He and Hot Lips were sucking out every available $ to maintain their ever expanding lifestyle and they simply spread that money around as much as they could to make down payments on other "assts", while avoiding "wasting" $ on any type of savings account for a rainy day.

Once they went splittsville they were burdened with the debt load for all those "assets" and now need big money to build catapults and siege engines for their very own War of the Roses.

I think it very possible that Franko could get down to trying to "sell" players if the league would allow him to, in order to maintain his ever weakening grip on his sports "empire".

More reasons to abhor the McDivorceCourts.
    http://bleacherreport.com/tb/b4aSj

Maybe this is old news if you live out west, but the McDivorceCourt sons were reported to be paid a total of $600K/year for duties that neither parent could describe. Also, an unnamed consulting firm who did nothing, was paid $4 million.

There were two unnamed limited partners involved from early on. I met at least one prospective "investor" when I lived in Vero Beach. The investor was from Washington, D.C., and what I primarily remember about him was that he had worked in the Clinton administration and was severely directionally challenged. Seemed that Frank and Jamie had several "investors" flying in to meet them at Dodgertown.

Actually, the consulting company is named: the John McCourt Company. There just wasn't really anything they did for that $4 million. It seems it was a method to launder money to the McCourts and circumvent the lenders restrictions on how much the McCourts could pay themselves in salary.
