Dodgers vs. Bucs Rusty vs. Locke
  • saeldway September 2011
No Lineups yet.  saeldway trying an Ohlendorf.  Trying not to go 0-fer the mojo season.  I still think that whole thing's rigged.
  • saeldway September 2011
BTW, Van Slyke and Tolleson being honored today before the game as organizational MiLB players of the year.  You want to honor them Ned?  Get 'em fitted into a damn uniform.  They both deserve a shot right now!
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
You have to like the fact that ClaYton said that Tolleson was a better pitcher than he before he hurt his arm.  He may be back, if not to better than ClaY, pretty damned good.  If so, our bullpen could be pretty stout with Javy, Kenley, and Tolleson.  I'd add in MacDougal if he just nails Parra in the neck during the last series.
  • saeldway September 2011
If I memory serves me right, Tolleson and ClaY were neck n neck going into the 2006 school year for Texas pitching.  They thought both would go around the same spot but then Tolleson got hurt.  A few years and a move to the pen and we could have quite the duo from Texas for years to come.  Logan obviously trusts his Texas scouts more than any other (Loney, ClaY, Miller, Tolleson, Javy, EO).  But to have Tolleson potentially performing at a ClaY level at the back of the bullpen would be just sick.
That bullpen next year of Guerra, Kenley, Elbert, Lindblom, Erin's Brother along with Tolleson, Ames, and St. Clair could be the best bullpen we've ever seen.  The best part?  None of them are even arbitration eligible.

Seriously?  How absolutely absurd that these two are honored my MiLB as "players of the year," and yet the sub-.500, playing-for-nothing-but-pride-and-butts-in-the-seats-to-pay-McCheap's-bills Dodgers REFUSE TO CALL THEM UP and honor them with a uniform - what they'd really appreciate.  What an incredibly asinine decision.

I have to think the decision is among the worst of Frank/Ned's time as the stewards of this franchise.   I would rather see Scott Van Slyke or Alfredo Silverio than guys playing out the string like James Loney or Rod Barajas.   As for the relievers, who wouldn't want to see Stephen Ames or Shawn Tolleson over Girlier or MacDougal?   I think it is about money, but it is also about Ned being afraid that if these kids show like Guerra, Jansen, Sellers, etc... it will be one more nail in his coffin.   Anyone with a hint knows that Logan White is the only reason this team is near to .500.  For every Juan Uribe or Dioner Navarro, Logan can spin Nate Eovaldi or Javy Guerra.    Not hard to pick the winner in that race.

    Vin is just the best
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
Switch out Barajas for Ellis and Rivera for Oeltjen (or better yet SVS) and I'd be a happy camper watching this game.
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
I'm also pleased that Sellers is playing third again tonight.  He's shown that he can play 2nd and SS - great to see what he could be going into next year.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Even though Doumit struck out, he is setting himself up for a nice contract in 2012.

You know that Ned hates this lineup.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Pretty generous strike zone, Carlson.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    That was ball four, Meep.
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
Dee showing patience.  Almost worked out for him
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Bison with another hit.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011

Dee showing patience.  Almost worked out for him

Yep, but he still needs to work on the strike zone.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Timmons, that was really close to a balk.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
How about taking a pitch, Bombo?
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Nicely played, Jerry.

Absolutely right.  However, progress is progress.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
The only reason I can see Rusty out there is that Frank wants a full return on his money.   The fact that he should be on the DL is oblivious to Frank.   It is a mystery why he allowed Andre to get his knee done.

Job two for Meep -  throwing overhand.
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
Once again we are reminded.  Meep wasn't supposed to come up until next year, at least.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Is it just me or is it painful to watch Rusty pitch?
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011

Once again we are reminded.  Meep wasn't supposed to come up until next year, at least.

Yep, Furcal was supposed to stay healthy for one season....at least.

Does a total of one season over a 3 year deal count?

    Nice hustle, Jerry.

If you think that one season was worth $30 million +.
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
That's the Jerry I have wanted to see
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Fat Rod ties the game.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Russ best hit a triple to score Fat Rod.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Seems to me that Mitchell and Sands have better eyes than vets like Rivera and Loney.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Mitchell gets robbed by Walker.  Still moves the runner over.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Yep, Carlson has a big strike zone.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Now steal, Meep.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Another hit for Bison.   111 ribs.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Rivera gets Sellers home, but I think Walker pulled his foot.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    That was pretty funny.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Damn, a good at bat from Fat Rod....I know I am shocked.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Willie Stargell.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Don't let gifts from umps go unappreciated.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Rusty strikes out the side.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
There it is!  Just do that about fifty or sixty times, next year, and I will be happy.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Great throw and Meep still beats the ball to second.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Derreck Lee does save some errors.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Might be Rusty's last inning with his neck and everything.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
    Nothing on that fastball.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Ya wanna get him, Donny?   Oh yeah, you have a short September pen.  Thanks, Ned.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
No, Donny, just sit on your ass.   Season is over anyway.
  • Vinsandlosses September 2011
Mitchell has looked much better this sept. than last sept.
