    Weird game time.

    Let's go Dodgers!

Yeah, I checked the time about three times, and then thought I was still not getting the time right on the conversion from EDT.

Loney is hitting the ball so hard, he's going to hurt somebody.

Federowicz looks overmatched at the plate.

  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Loney steals second, but Sellers K's.

Let's see if Billz can match that seven pitch first inning!
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
So far, the most important news is that Kemp singled in the first.  Trying to get that BA lead.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Todd Tichenor with a very tight strike zone.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Evening, Sam.  Forgot about the early start time.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Looked like Billz got in way of that one instead of being in good fielding position, Vin.

Definitely a tighter strike zone than the joke that Hernandez had, last night.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Billz pitches around a lead off walk.  Still scoreless after 3.

So, anyone know what Braun and Reyes did today?  I spent the day with Mary and the girls bowling.   Mary's asthma is so bad she has to forego golf for the next month or so.   Ended up setting up the girls in bowling gear - shoes, ball, bag, etc...  Mary ended up getting a new bowling ball and seeing as how everyone else got something, I bought myself a new ball.

Reyes went 1-3 in the first of a double header against the Phillies.  Didn't start the second one.  Braun is 1-2 with the game in the 7th.

Yikes.  Sorry to hear about Mary.  I have a bit of asthma myself and it is not fun.  My best wishes!

She has always fought it, but this year has been particularly bad.   So, no golf.   I prefer bowling, I am better at it than her.

I will convey your thoughts to Mary.  She may log on when she is done telling all of her friends about her 201 game today.

    SELLERS!!
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
That is how that is done.   His name is Justin Sellers, excellent feed to Mitchell.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Great relay from Sellers after Sands makes a nice play on a ball down the line.  Would be triple is out #3.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
FedEx is making me FedUp.  Any deal Ned makes is immediately suspect.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
This game shouldn't take too long once someone scores a run.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Welcome to the offense of the June Dodgers.

He does look highly overmatched.   Might be a good idea to see what kind of contract Ryan Doumit would need to leave Pittsburgh.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
So, Rizzo can hit ML pitching.  I was really doubting he had the skill.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
That was a strike, last night.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
There's the Billz we all know and wish we didn't.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Geez, did Ned really give this clown $30 million?
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
FedEx airmails one into right field.  this is ugly.  Thanks again, Ned.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
I think it is safe to say that Ned got screwed in the Trayvon deal.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
If I see one more person suggest that Federowicz is the answer to our catcher position next year, I ask that they please review his fucking performance tonight.  Pitiful.

Like I said, we need to investigate Ryan Doumit.  Sure, he ain't going to make anyone forget Yadier Molina, but he is not a total comedy act like Fed Ex.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
Billz will never get a close call with that clown stabbing at everything back there.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Finally, it is over.   Do us a favor, Ned, trade this bum.   I would rather take my chances with a guy like Jonathan Sanchez or even a kid like Withrow over Billz and his downtrending numbers.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
I swear, it looks like Billz wants to cry.
  • SamAdamsSamAdams September 2011
In all fairness, Federowicz never played in AAA until we gave away Trayvon.  Why he is even on this team is beyond me.  Maybe in a couple of years he can be a backup.  AJ Ellis sits for the likes of Navarro and now him.  Thank you so much NedCo.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Twelve game hitting streak for Sands.

Ned has the Midas touch in reverse.  If he signs anyone to a long term contract, his career is all but over.  That's why he needs to go.

It just makes more sense to me to play Griff Erickson, who has the same experience level as Fed Ex but actually can play defense and has been known to hit with some pop.

I was for dealing the bum last year.   While Opie has worked to improve his game, Billz has stagnated and even regressed over the past two seasons.   Sure, he will have a good game, but they are becoming a rare commodity.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Well, that was a good play on both ends.
  • grabarkewitzgrabarkewitz September 2011
Might be time to break that guy's leg.
  • saeldway September 2011
I was at a wedding last night, so couldn't see the game, but guys I think everybody's way too tough on Billz.  I think most on this board are frustrated because from the day he was drafted we hoped he'd be what Opie became and he hasn't, but I think that's an overreaction.  He is what he is, which is a number 3 and thats what he's getting paid for.  So I'll take that over lets say a Ryan Howard type deal where he's getting paid A-Rod type money for lesser production.  Billz will have brilliant games and infuriating games and they tend to cluster over halves of a season.  I'll take 195 innings of 3.50-4.20 ERA baseball all day long.  Plus, remember this kid's 27 and we're only paying him through the age of 30.  You can tell he's a slow oager, maybe he puts it together here.  If not, oh well, we've still got a decent pitcher that will keep us in most games.  Now, if Ned can somehow turn Kenley, Withrow, and IDJ2 into James Shields and Billz into Alonzo and Grandal, I'd be all about it.
  • saeldway September 2011
Plus, Ellis needs to be his personal catcher.  Park needed Kreuter and he needs Ellis.  Thats just the way it is.
