The Official NBA 2011-2012 Season Thread!
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
I know that it's primarily baseball here, as it should be, but we've had an NFL thread in the past and, seeing as most of us are Lakers fans, and they're actually good again, why not?

    GO LAKERS!!

    Read my mind. Excellent Matthew!
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
    Great minds think alike, Brookster!

Either that or fools seldom differ. I'll go with the former. :P

Lakers are looking good, right now, but the turnovers are a little too much. 61-54 at the half.

Did I hear Barkley (and Avery is it?) call Gasol a nerd?

We gotta win tonight or we are likely toast.

I was going around the house right now, but I could have sworn I heard the same thing.

Actually, speaking of "Inside The NBA," this is the best thing I've seen a sports show do in a long, long time.

This was done during the Denver series. Kenny Smith responds to Kobe jumping over an Aston Martin:

I spent my teen age years partying with "show time" while living in Laguna Beach.

I am as much a Laker fan as I am a Dodger fan.

I am all about Kobe winning more championships than Shaq. GO LAKERS!!

Lakers now in the middle of their usual 3rd quarter choke job. Now up 63-62.
  • BrooksterBrookster May 2008
    Is that Dolph Lundgren?
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
If you guys think I have a passionate dislike of the Putrids, just wait until the Lakers play the Celtics.
  • Good win. Big win. Needed it. Now let's see if they can win on the road against the Jazz.
  • Nice game by Gasol and Odom. Don't know what Vujancic was thinking by yapping at Korver. That was pretty dumb. Can't believe that Sloan was already starting his usual playoff loss whine before the teams even left the court.
  • Sasha did not play a good game and that was a stupid move (getting the T). But, I do have to give it to Sasha. The guy can't make a shot but he does not hesitate. When he gets the ball, he will fire it away. I wish Walton would learn a little. You have to be a threat out there. Gasol and Odom played great. Kobe actually played a very solid overall game. He really got his teammates involved. Learned from game 4 OT.
  • I would hope they would end this series in Salt Lake City. The Lakers need to get Kobe some time to get his back right. The thing that just amazes me is how well the Lakers play and yet they are still missing Ariza and Bynum. Next year, they could be beasts.
  • Hopefully. That is hopefully, Bynum can get healthy. A healthy Bynum would be a great addition for the Lakers. It's like adding an experienced, number 1 pick to your team.

Odom has really played great. He's picked up his game. He is really showing a lot and is becoming a player you have to keep around because he can do so much.

I really doubt that he'll be back this season. Although, Ariza on the bench will be a huge pick-up for the lakers in during the final stretch of the season.

He won't be back this year. I was thinking about next year. Though, I suppose next year (basketball year) is this year (calendar year).

oh yea no doubt about that. the lakers are going to be absolutely dominating. with pau gasol playing the power forward, his natural position, lamar at the small forward...those lakers are going to be unstoppable.
  • That game last night was a doozy. Caught it at the Beanery in Pasadena ... and wow was it rockin.

Got game 7 tix!!!!! So that's gonna be the shit if it happens!
  • Here is one person hoping these game 7 tickets become useless.
  • If the Lakers are able to squeak this series out, the next one will be a doozy!

Although they are playing a very good Utah team, their weaknesses are exposed more with a team like the Hornets.

I am concerned about Bynum, long term. Sure he is young and all. But, this a recurring injury and his recovery has taken way longer than expected. Heck, so has Ariza's. Crossing my fingers that things improve for both and they are back at full strength next season.

Gary Vitti is the Lakers trainer and not Stan Conte, correct?

    GO LAKERS!!!!

Yeah, actually I am, too, because my tix turn into GAME 1 of western conf. finals if there IS NO game 7.

    So that'd be sweet(er).
  • At least your going to a playoff game!
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
Lakers open up game 6 with a 33-20 lead. Knowing the Lakers, that lead won't last, but let's hope they can pull it out.

In other news, Cleveland defeats Boston in Cleveland 74-69 to leave Boston winless on the road yet again, and also force game 7.
  • End of three 86-70 Lakers.

Come on Lakers. the home stretch. do it. please.
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
Utah on a run now. 93-84 Lakers with a little over 5 minutes left. Kobe with his 4th foul.
  • Kobe with the three, back to ten.
  • Boozer just fouls out. It is looking good.
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
    Boozer fouls out.
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
Holy shit, how did that go in?!
  • Oh no, he didn't?!? Kobe just got himself the shot of the year on that one.
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
    M-V-P
  • Damn, Odom got mugged. Nicely done, Sasha, drawing the charge.
  • Yeah, Okur only took 46 steps on that one.
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
Okur wears out a pair of shoes. Get in control Lamar, jeesh.
  • What does Odom have to do to get a foul called? Bleed profusely.
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
God, how stupid. You're trying to showboat at this point of the game? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
  • Yup. Lakers are looking very good. three minutes left and an 11 point lead.
  • Who said Jazz fans were classy? They ripped on Fisher and that man is probably the classiest player in the game.

    Kobe draws the foul.
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
Quit your whining and go marry your 10th wife, idjits.
  • Geez, that was scary. Kobe and Williams nearly killed each other.
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
    Cripes.
  • Damn, this is not helping me with my ice cream.
  • Geez, Kobe got mugged and no call. Instead they give Odom the free throws. Go figure.
  • Odom with ice water in his veins, sinks two.
  • Well its a four point game.
  • A five point game now.
  • Back to four.
  • Lakers Win! Damn, that was nervous making.
  • ocmike24ocmike24 May 2008
    Survival.
  • MatthewMatthew May 2008
Oh My God, what a game. They made that game so much harder than it should have been.
