Let 'er rip, people! I know it's a bit of a hassle to switch over, so let me know your dislikes or suggestions about the new board.

Mine are in the Umpire area. & I did get the icon to work, but I can't seem to resize my account pic to size and, as before, it doesn't seem to be happy in Safari.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Blast, your "account pic" will only show up in your profile. Your "account icon" is what appears beside your name. Max size on that is 32px x 32px.

Testing icons in Safari...
  • oml1200oml1200 June 2007
    OK El Super Liquido,

Am I blind or am I not seeing the "pic controls" Blast said should be in the comment area?

    Or

Have I just been banned from posting photos?
  • BrooksterBrookster June 2007
Also....it appears to me that the "Quote" function is not working. I tried to quoate KB and it didn't work. Of course, not being able to quote KB might be a good thing.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
K, The Safari/Comment Box issue is a biggie, and I'm gonna work on something for it. I don't like how heavy our current WYSIWYG is, so I'm gonna have to custom build something lighter.

That should also fix the quote issue. Will keep you posted.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Um, that was easier than I thought :P

Still some bugs, but Safari users should be happy...

Also, it's not a WYSIWYG, just a formatter. Just use your imagination. :D
  • bigblasterbigblaster June 2007
Well, as you can see, my icon is fine. But, now, when I tried to put my account picture in my info file, I can't resize it down to see anything but my ear. Not that I don't have attractive ears or anything...
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Yeah, it doesn't resize, it crops. For example, if you link a pic that's 600x600, it will crop most of that out, only showing 280x200 of it.

    Like this:
  • I am finding it very easy to navigate in this format. That was something I didn't like with our last effort.

The Quote link is now working well.

    I do miss the Badger non-smiley !
  • I used to see pages on the posts... now, I see Richard posted a BAM - but everything is still on one page. Is there something in my preferences I'm not seeing?
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
    Hm, interesting...

It seems that whispers count towards the number of posts on the page.

So, I'm seeing 40 posts (which lead me to post a BAM), but everyone else sees 36 posts.

This could get dicey for BAMmers...
  • I posted this on the 'welcome' thread before I saw this one.

Length limits on user names - any way to disable? I get stopped at "Mike Scioscia's trag". I know my username is long, but I dig it, and MSTI just isn't cutting it for me. Please?
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
I dunno, I kinda like "Mike Scioscia's trag"...

I'll see what I can do.
  • BlueMamma June 2007
um, i may be just having a hard time seeing it, but is there a link to click to move from one thread to the next or from the thread you're looking at back to the forum you were just in?

Only if you tell me what it means! I missed the posts where you gave an explanation, Mike. Do tell!
  • MatthewMatthew June 2007
Hey Richard, I was curious... were you able to archive some of the game threads from last year? i.e. the four HR game, Martin's 10th inning walkoff, etc., etc.?
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
    Best. Episode. Ever.
  • Wakko! (or Yakko, I can't remember which)

Please do! That would be much appreciated.

BPK, it's a reference from the greatest Simpsons episode ever. Long story short, the company softball team recruits 9 MLB ringers to juice up the squad, and 8 ridiculous fates befall them (except for Darryl Strawberry, who plays Homer's position) (aside: "but coach! I'm 9 for 9 with 9 home runs!")

Anyway, Mike Scioscia is the catcher (this took place in 1992), and he insists on not being a ringer, but actually working in the power plant, where he is exposed to radiation poisoning. At the end of the episode, they do a parody of the classic song "Talking Baseball" (you know it, it's about "Willie, Mickey and the Duke", or something like that), and the song describes the tragedies; and "Mike Scioscia's tragic illness" is a line from it.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
K Mike, you're all set. Hopefully.

And it's Wakko. Yakko wasn't quirky enough for my taste.
  • I'm me again! Outstanding! Much appreciated. Thanks!
  • Nice, Mike. I'm gonna have to go rent it just for that episode!

I keep forgetting that there were actual kids who watched that show. :rasta:

Moms, I've added some links to the bottom of each post.

"Previous Page" just takes you back to the page you came from.
"Next Unread" sends you to the next thread with posts you haven't read.
  • bigblasterbigblaster June 2007
One thing I did like in the last location, Doc, was the "mark all threads as read" button. Doable?
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Yup, I just added it to the sidebar. :badger:

(It'tl show up in the main discussion page)

Are we going to be able to send someone a private message and not just a whisper?

    Nope.
  • Is there any way to add a "preview" button when posting? I find it very useful when using pictures, like in the game threads.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Yep! You should see it down below. The preview will appear right above the comment box. :D

    Excellent! Thanks.
  • Richard, I'm getting no love from the editting buttons. I figured out the weblink - my laptop initially blocks scripted stuff. But when I hit the bullet button, or the indent, all I get is pasted info from the post I'm responding to (stuff I never copied to begin with).
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
I'm not sure what you mean? This should show up when you hit the bullet button (spaces added so the code will show up):

    [ ulist ][ * ]
    [ * ]
    [ * ][ /ulist ]

And this should show up when you hit the indent:

    [ quote ][ /quote ]

    Is yours any different?
  • oml1200oml1200 June 2007
Is it gong to be possible to embed video?

Yes. It adds whatever it was I last copied as well. Don't know why it does that. Also, on the old site, I never saw any code at all, just a nice, clean little bullet. All the code stuff is kinda scary for us laymen...
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Well here's the thing... seeing those nice clean bullets came at a price. Mainly, it made the site slooow. This comments box is on every discussion page, which would make it an absolute pain to browse. So I switched over to this nice, small little solution. Plus, it works with Safari.

    You're on a Safari???

Okay, well, I'll deal with it. Can't figure out why it's copying old stuff along with it, but no biggie. I'm using IE, btw. Perhaps that's the trouble.
  • doctyperdoctyper June 2007
Nope, Blaster is. And I was tired of his bitching...
  • zwilnikzwilnik June 2007
Ok. The font box and color bar are on "always display mode"

And I'm typing that again, because the "add comments" button and the "Back to discussion" button are right next to each other. :pirate:

That's 'cause I was completely reformatting it to work w/ IE. *phew*

Took a while. Give 'er a shot, BPK.

And hang tight for a fix on that bug, zwil...

I've made a few adjustments to the formatting options. It now works reliably cross-browser, and it doesn't shower your with annoying browser alerts :).

Also, you might want to try the live image preview option. :D

Does "whisper" replace ye olde PM?
  • zwilnikzwilnik June 2007
Pretty much. I think you're sharing with the admins/mods, too though.
