Hi! New to the board, just thought a thread on the other games affecting the Dodgers (i.e. DBacks games) might be worth having around.

Right now, the Giants and DBacks seem to be having a mutual contest to see who can hit worse with runners on. Despite the Giants managing not to score in in three different "man on third 0 or 1 out" situations, they're up 2-1.

Wilson walks Snyder to open up the 9th. Bunted to second. It feels weird rooting for the Giants.

    "McScotch". Irish much? :D Welcome.

1 out left for the Snakes to avoid the sweep.

Wilson serves up the triple. 3-2 DBacks. For the record, I'm not really Irish, it was a quote my friends and I came up with in college about refusing to patronize McDonalds unless they started offering a "McScotch."

Okay...bottom nine, Giants are sending up a couple of Fresno Grizzlies and Bengie Molina, the slowest man alive.

Molina singles to left, and is wisely pinch-run for. I wonder if left fielders will be trying to throw Molina out at first in a couple of years.

My cousin, who is a life-long die-hard Giants fan (we had many an argument over baseball growing up), actually admitted that he is rooting for the Dodgers! I wonder if this is representative of the typical Giants fan. Could it be that they hate the D'backs even more than the Dodgers?

I feel the same way, but the Gints are our friends right now, they just swept the Snakes and that losing streak is getting longer and longer. Now, if Lowe can hold serve, we are up 3.5 with sixteen games to go....I think. That would make our magic number, 12. Lessee, three in Denver and four in Pittsburgh. With some luck and the added ability of the Snakes to tank, we could clinch this thing before we come home. Realistically, I would love to clinch it at our home park, but the earlier the better.

I'll play the radio on Southern stations because Southern Belles are Hell at night...

For any you who want to see something funny, see if you can find the highlight of Velez's double in the 3rd. Dunn tried to fake the catch to hold the runners, but he would have actually caught it had he kept backing up.

As of this morning, the Dodgers' magic number was 16 I believe.

I grew up in the Bay Area, and live there now, and I can safely say this is not the norm. The radio commercials on the Giants stations often mock the Dodgers, and having lived in LA as well, I'll say that the general climate is more anti-Dodgers up here, but I think that's partially due to most Bay Area folks not liking the city of LA.

That said, I've gone to games in SF wearing Dodgers gear, and my friend has come to Dodgers home games with me wearing Giants gear, and the San Francisco faithful are a lot nicer than the Dodger Stadium crowd. I got called names for sitting with someone wearing a Giants cap.

Hmmm, maybe you are right. After tonight, there are sixteen games left. If we win, we are up by 3.5, so that would leave our magic number at 12.5 or 13 depending on the mathmeticians, among us. We sweep the Rox and Buccos, that is seven, the Snakes continue to lose every game in sight, then we should clinch sometime next Thursday, give or take a .5 here or there.

The magic number is 15 after Arizona's loss. It could be 14 if we win tonight.

Im going to have to disagree with you here. I sat next to a phillies fan in whatever year they opened CrackHell, at a game against the phillies. I got full beers thrown at me, threats of "im gonna kick your ass as soon as you leave the ballpark, and i almost got molested by that f#cking seal. the Phillies fan sitting next to me wasnt even so much as glanced at. did i mention that he was a grown adult and i was like, 14-15 at the time? Sorry but the idiot raider fans who got too drunk and wandered into the wrong ballpark are way worse than our hoodlums.

I definitely have had different experiences...but I will certainly say that Raider fans are without question the worst, people are often recommended not to wear opposing gear during divisional games, because they will be at very minimum threatened. As far as I'm concerned, rude Dodgers fans and Giants/A's fans can all be attributed to the Raiders.
